Acknowledgments

The Rio Reimagined Active Transportation Study was made possible through the leadership, efforts, knowledge, and expertise of many who were involved in this Active Transportation Study and other related Rio Reimagined planning efforts, past and present. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to this complex, multi-agency effort, which has resulted in the findings and recommendations of this study and will continue to guide future implementation efforts for each partner agency moving forward.

The project team respectfully acknowledges that the Rio Reimagined Active Transportation Study includes ancestral lands of multiple Ancestral Indigenous Communities. The river corridor is sacred and reflects the cultural values central to the foundations and ways of life of these communities. We honor this enduring connection to this corridor and that it serves as a tangible reminder of the cultural heritage of these communities. By collaborating with Ancestral Indigenous Communities including the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRP-MIC) and Gila River Indian Community (GRIC), we are dedicated to creating spaces that honor their unique cultures, histories, goals, and practices with the objective of inspiring users to appreciate and steward the river corridor and the ability to traverse it.
